The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
